Animal Facilities

The IBYME Animal Facility has highly trained staff that guarantees the care of the animals under sanitary barriers and periodic controls with parasitological and microbiological analysis, following international standards of care.

Any project that involves animals housed in the Animal Facility must have the prior approval of the IBYME IACUC. Research projects that involve the use of human samples, human studies and, additionally, experimental animals, will be evaluated in interaction with the institutional Ethics Committee.

Accreditations

The IBYME Animal Facility is part of the National System of Animal Facilities, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation (MINCYT) together with the Interinstitutional Council of Science and Technology (CICyT).

Given the capacity of its professionals, its infrastructure and its work protocols, the IBYME Animal Facility has achieved the “Assurance with standards for Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” granted by the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW).
